Charity single supporting Mesopotamia Charity Shop and Community Hub in Nottingham, England.

I was asked by Rachel at Mesopotamia to decorate their window for Christmas this year. While I was there I was able to see just a fraction of the amazing work they do to support the local community as well as people in need around the world. I was there two days, in the first day over a ton of food was collected, sorted and sent out to people in the local area who otherwise wouldn't have enough to eat. Families came to the door in need and were supplied with what they needed. There were even mince pies for all the volunteers after the parcels were all sorted out.

I found out how many people Mesopotamia are supporting via the Golden Hotline number, but that they haven't had any extra funding to do this vital work.

They have also fed my family during tough times, and the charity shop has been a source of costume supplies, books for my uni dissertation and about half of my furniture since I moved into my house from a hostel.

All money I receive from this single will be going directly to the team at Mesopotamia to help them carry on doing the essential work they do.

Miss Christmas So we’re back to the coldest part of the year And I’m finding it hard to muster up any festive cheer Why are there snowmen on this beer? I swear they don’t belong here, I swear they don’t belong here So we’re back to too many mince pies Missing gazing up at frosty skies Missing the pretty men who tell you pretty lies With fire in their eyes Drunk naps in the afternoon And bread sauce drying on the spoon I really hope it’s over soon CHORUS And I guess what it comes down to is Is I don’t miss this I don’t miss Christmas And I guess what it comes down to is Is I don’t miss you Miss I don’t miss Christmas Christmas Who put this glitter in my hair? I don’t want it there, I don’t want it there Winter’s back But there’s no bumping into people in the market square No stressed out shoppers anywhere So Amazon gets the little business share We’ve got Boris and his cronies on the telly peddling doom Carol concerts ain’t the same on Zoom I want to see my family in the same room I hope that this is over soon CHORUS And I guess what it comes down to is Is I don’t miss this I don’t miss Christmas And I guess what it comes down to is Is I don’t miss you Miss I don’t miss Christmas Christmas So we’re back to the coldest part of the year And I’m finding it hard to muster up any festive cheer While I’m still missing you my dear

That'll Do 02:50
That’ll Do Charlotte came from a nice part of town Great big house but no Dad around Living with her Grandad she learned a lot from things that he said You can always make do if you can make something new with your needle and thread Oh so what you gonna wear when it’s party time my dear and you ain’t got no pennies for a dress Whip up a little razzle-dazzle, something that will certainly impress Something old of Mother’s from her days out on the stage Could be tastefully refashioned with a little bit of lace So turn it inside out, sew it up again and I think that will do Just like new Oh that’ll do It’s just like new Oh that’ll do It’s just like new So we’ll turn it inside out, sew it up again and I think that will do Charlotte came from a nice part of town But ended up in the slums when her luck was down Love over money, she found herself a man who would stay Happy but poor has it’s own price to pay Oh so what you gonna do when the gin money’s due and you ain’t got a penny for the pot Got to be a little thrifty, make the most of all the little that we’ve got, it ain’t a lot Oh a second-hand suit is only stained on the outside But could fit a lot of fellas if it starts out extra-wide So turn it inside out, sew it up again and flog it off as new That’s what we’ll do Oh flog it off as new That’s what we’ll do It’s just like new It’s just like new So we’ll turn it inside out, sew it up again and flog it off as new And I think that will do

Little Miss Little Miss Lightning Strike has a bright red pushbike With a bright brass bell that she rings As she cycles down the highstreet towards a man that she’s arranged to meet ‘Cause she’s having another hankering for what he brings Oh those little white packages of little white pills She don’t know if they’re causing or they’re curing all her ills Oh but she don’t care and there’s no one there to tell her no so off she goes CHORUS Off she goes in the eye of the storm She knows, but she’s happy and warm Wind blows, yeah the rain’s coming down She ain’t scared she gone drown She’ll float off on her cloud Little Miss Thunderbolt another victim of the failed revolt She needs a way she can escape the drudgery It was a simple proposition, the beginning of her mission To leave the grey behind, relax unwind and be free She stops off at a newsagents to buy a can of coke She also picks up cigarettes although she doesn’t smoke Oh but she don’t care and there’s no one there to tell her no so off she goes CHORUS Little Miss Never-Strikes-Twice is more than happy to pay the price To brighten up the colours as she rides beneath the trees Oh and down by the river that water is sweet, it’s sweaty and hot so she dabbles her feet She falls in and she skins her knees Oh the pretty little fishies are singing siren songs They’re on a watery adventure would she like to tag along Oh but she don’t care and there’s no one there to tell her no so off she goes CHORUS
